Meet and Greet Consultation
We discuss what has brought you into therapy, physical and mental health, and some background information about you during the first meeting. Generally, asking what you may be looking for from psychotherapy, what you want to achieve, and how it will look. It all depends on your needs. If we feel that the therapist cannot work with you for any reason, we will advise you in the first session and provide referrals to another therapist. You also have the right to notify us that you do not want to work with the therapist – you can be honest about this, and we will understand.
Duration and frequency of sessions
We usually see clients once a week for 50 minutes. However, we are flexible and can accommodate clients’ needs; depending on your schedule, we may want to meet more or less frequently than this (if clinically appropriate) or sometimes want to come for longer sessions.
Your treatment's type, frequency, and duration will be discussed at the initial consultation and revisited in due course. We tend to meet the client and on the same day and time every week – it’s essential to attend therapy regularly to get results; protecting some space in your diary makes this easier to achieve.
While it is important to try and attend regular weekly sessions, we understand that may be times when this is not possible, and we are happy to be flexible and work around these times with you.
Private Health Insurance
We would like you to call the workplace insurance for the type of coverage provided by your specific plan. Accepted Insurance Companies: Blue Cross, Great-West Life, Manulife, & SunLife. Direct billing with Blue Cross & Green Shield.
Fees for Service
Please note that psychotherapy is not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) unless you work with a psychiatrist or with a general practitioner MD doing psychotherapy. Our rates represent the current mid-range in Toronto. Your Therapists will be discussing the fee with you during the intake interview and will advise beforehand if any changes are made to the agreed-upon fee. All efforts are made to provide affordable psychotherapy services. However, HST is payable because it is not regarded as a medical expense.
How to Pay
Payment for counselling and mental health services is due at the end of every session. A receipt will be given when payment is received. Please retain this receipt for your insurance or income tax claims, if applicable. If you submit your receipt to an insurance provider for reimbursement, you should do so after each session.
You can pay by cash, credit, debit, e-transfer, or cheque at the end of each session. Again, you will be given a receipt at the end.
